Terms of Service
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms cover your use of Akademya at www.akademya.co. Akademya is run by Arneil Arenal (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Akademya, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Akademya.
Your account
You sign in with an email address and password, or with Google where that option is shown. Keep your password to yourself: you are responsible for what happens under your account. Give us an email address you can use, and only create an account if you are old enough to agree to these terms where you live.
Plans for community owners
Each community you own has its own plan. You choose it when you create the community. A Free community is created at once, with no card; each owner may have one Free community at a time. A Hobby or Pro community is paid for at checkout and is created only once Whop confirms that checkout. If you leave the checkout, no community is created. A community created before this rule whose checkout was never finished stays locked, visible only to you, until you finish it or delete it. There is no free trial.
- Free costs nothing, for up to 20 active members (you included). At 20, members already in keep their access and nobody new can join until you move the community to a paid plan.
- Hobby costs $9 a month or $81 a year per community, in US dollars, for unlimited members.
- Pro costs $99 a month or $891 a year per community, in US dollars, for unlimited members.
A plan bought before 21 October 2026 keeps the price it was bought at until it ends. Plans are paid through Whop, our payment provider. Each plan renews every month, or every year on a yearly plan, until you cancel it. You can cancel at any time from the community's settings or your Whop account, signed in with the email you paid with. When you cancel, the plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for. Refunds are covered by our Refund Policy.
Moving a community from a monthly Hobby to Pro starts a Pro subscription for it, and its Hobby subscription is cancelled as soon as Pro is active; the Hobby payment already made is not refunded. A yearly Hobby moving to Pro, and a Pro switching between monthly and yearly, take effect when the period already paid for ends: the community keeps its current plan until then, Whop collects your card at checkout and charges the new plan first on that day, and you can undo the change in the community's settings before it. Moving from Pro to Hobby: we ask Whop to end Pro at the close of the period already paid for, and you then choose Hobby. If Whop ends it sooner, the settings page says so at once.
If a community’s paid plan ends, you keep the community, its members and its content. If it has 20 active members or fewer and you have no other Free community, it moves to Free. Otherwise its members keep their access, but it takes no new members and is not listed on Discover until you choose a plan for it again. If you delete a community, its plan is cancelled so it does not renew; the current period is not refunded.
Whop’s own terms also apply to payments made through it. Card details are entered on Whop’s checkout and never reach Akademya.
Paid communities
A community owner may charge members to join their community, either a monthly subscription or a one-time payment, and may sell a single course inside their community for a one-time payment (“Buy now”). When they do:
- The community owner is the seller of that subscription or payment, not Akademya. Members pay the owner through Whop, into the owner’s own connected Whop account, and the owner is responsible for what they sell, their prices, their refunds, their disputes and chargebacks, and their own taxes.
- The owner sets the price, and whether members pay it every month or once, in US dollars or Philippine pesos, and members pay in that money. A new price, money or way of paying applies to new members only: members who already pay keep the price, money and way of paying they joined with.
- A member price, monthly or one-time, and a course’s one-time price are at least $9 a month (or ₱499 in pesos) when they are set or changed. When you charge your members, each payment carries one fee, card fees included: 10% + 30¢ on Free and Hobby, and 2.7% + 30¢ on Pro. On Free and Hobby, Akademya keeps 7.3% and the rest (2.7% + $0.30) is Whop's card fee; on Pro, all of it is Whop's card fee and Akademya takes nothing. These are for a domestic card: international cards may cost more. Example: charge $9 a month and you keep $7.80 of each payment on Free or Hobby, $8.46 on Pro. A member's fee is fixed when they join: if you change plan later, the new fee applies to new members only. The fee is the owner’s to pay, out of each payment. A member who joined before 21 October 2026 keeps the fee their subscription started with (Akademya’s 10% on Hobby or 5% on Pro, plus Whop’s card fee) until it ends.
- To be paid, a community owner must connect a Whop account and complete Whop’s identity checks and payout setup. Whop decides whether to approve an account.
- If a paying member leaves a community, their subscription is cancelled at the end of the period they paid for. If they are removed or banned, or the owner deletes the community, it is cancelled straight away. Any refund is the community owner’s decision.
- A one-time payment does not renew. Paid once to join, it gives access for as long as the member stays in the community and the community is open; a member who leaves and comes back is not charged again. A course bought once opens for as long as the buyer is a member of its community, including after the owner takes it off sale. If the member is removed or banned, or the owner deletes the community or the course, or removes their access to the course (for example after a refund), that access ends. Any refund is the community owner’s decision. If a one-time payment is refunded in full, the access it paid for ends by itself, and coming back is a new payment.
Your content
You keep ownership of what you post: posts, comments, courses, lessons, events and your profile. You give us permission to store it and show it to the people who can see it on Akademya, as our Privacy Policy explains under “Who can see your information” (for example, everyone for a free public community, and members only for a paid or private one), for as long as it is on Akademya. Only post content you have the right to share. Video links you add are played from the site that hosts them, under that site’s terms.
Community owners and their admins run their own communities and may remove posts or members. We may also remove content, or suspend or close an account, that breaks these terms or the law.
What you may not do
- Post anything illegal, or content that harasses, threatens or exploits anyone.
- Post content that infringes someone else’s copyright, trademark or privacy.
- Send spam, scams, or links to malware.
- Try to get into accounts or communities you have not been given access to, or disrupt, overload or reverse engineer the service.
- Resell or re-host Akademya itself without our written permission.
The service
We work to keep Akademya running and your data safe, but the service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, add or remove features over time.
As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid Akademya in the month before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that cannot be limited.
Ending your use
You can stop using Akademya at any time. Cancel your communities’ plans from your Whop account first so you are not charged again, and leave any community you pay to be in. To have your account deleted, sign in and send us a message from the Help page; we reply to confirm before we delete it. If you own a community, delete it first, because a community cannot yet be handed to someone else. Within 30 days of your request we remove your email address, name, handle, password and profile, and nobody can sign in to the account again; what you posted stays in its communities under the name “Deleted member”, and payment records are kept. Our Privacy Policy has the details. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Philippines.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we will post the new version here with a new date. Continuing to use Akademya after a change means you accept the updated terms.
